Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque Review

1 February 2016

Today I have the newest face mask from Dermalogica to share with you guys! This is the Charcoal Rescue Masque.

The claims:
"All-in-one treatment masque detoxifies, brightens and invigorates all skin conditions. Fast-acting, easy-to-remove formula rescues tired, lackluster or dull skin. Activated Binchotan Charcoal powerfully absorbs impurities while sulphur promotes cell turnover for dramatically brighter skin. Volcanic Ash, Sea Silt, Bamboo Extract and alpha hydroxy acids further accelerate skin brightening with dual-action exfoliation. Niacinimide helps reduce congestion and calm the skin while Chilean Wild Mint helps refine pores."

When I first applied the mask it felt warm on the skin but cool to the touch but after a few minutes it felt cooling and soothing! The mask takes a while to dry, longer than any other mud mask I have used BUT doesn't give that intense tightening feeling. While it does feel firm it isn't uncomfortable. I left mine on for the longer side of ten minutes (time seriously gets away from me) but it is recommended to wash off after 7 - 10 minutes.

At first Joseph wasn't too sure of mummy's mucky face

He quickly saw the funny side

Washing off the mask was a little different to most, I usually take a warm washcloth and wipe away but this mask is dual exfoliating. To remove you thoroughly (and I mean THOROUGHLY) wet your hands, if your hands aren't wet enough you will pull at your skin! So, with very wet hands massage in a circular motion and you will feel the tiny particles gently but effectively exfoliating your skin! I am a huge fan of exfoliating - one of my favorite beauty treatments is microdermabraision. This will be your new favourite too if you love to exfoliate!

Happily exfoliating the mask off!

After I had fully removed the mask my skin felt gorgeous and soft - no irritation or redness.

TIP - use before showering, this mask has tiny exfoliants that can stay on your skin even after washing! I find it easiest to make sure they're all washed away in the shower. Removing in the shower will also help to ensure your hands are nice and wet!

This mask is formulated without artificial fragrances, colors or parabens.

x Amanda
